테라스라는 비어있는 공간을 잘 채우는 방법에 대해 고민하는 프로젝트이다. 테라스, 설계실, 5층 홀과의 관계를 현재 상황보다 가깝게 만들어주기 위해 테라스의 입구를 조정하고 6층의 접근성을 높이는 일부터 시작한다.
비어있는 건축도서관 상부 공간을 활용하여 6층에 순환 동선을 만들고 기존 테라스 영역을 외부로 확장한다. 건축도서관을 조용한 공간으로 남겨두면서 발코니를 만들어서 기존 테라스와 새로 만들어진 순환 동선과 연결된다. 배치도에서 보았을 때 슬라브의 모양과 쉼터 공간은 정사각형으로 통일하고 기둥을 설치하여 매스감을 준다.
The project was about how to fill the empty space of the terrace. I started by adjusting the entrance to the terrace and improving the accessibility of the 6th floor to bring the relationship between the terrace, the design office, and the 5th floor hall closer than it currently is.
By utilizing the vacant upper space of the Architecture Library, I created a circulation pathway on the 6th floor and extended the existing terrace area to the outside. While leaving the architecture library as a quiet space, I created a balcony to connect the existing terrace with the newly created circulation. The shape of the slab and the shelter space were unified as a square and columns were installed to create a sense of mass.
Concept
기존의 테라스는 한 사람 혹은 한 그룹이 점유하는 형식의 사용이 많았다.
쉴 곳이 간절하게 필요한 모든 학생들에게 열려 있는 테라스는 없을까?
테라스 한 조각을 그 학생들에게 주고 싶다는 생각으로 컨셉을 잡았다.
Traditional terraces are often occupied by a single person or group of people.
Why not have a terrace that is open to all students who desperately need a place to relax?
I conceptualized the idea of giving ‘A Piece of the Terrace’ to those students.
Site
동쪽을 바라보고 있는 테라스는 5층과 6층에서 주로 사용된다.
6층에서 테라스 방향으로 모형보관함과 쓰레기통 때문에 조망 확보에 어려움을 겪고 있어 창문은 무용지물로 존재한다. 건축학 도서관의 위층은 구조만 있는 빈 공간으로 함께 리모델링 할 수 있는 충분한 가능성을 가지고 있었고 6층에서는 테라스로 바로 나갈 수 있는 방법이 없기에 6층에 새로운 출입구를 설치하는 것이 필요해 보인다.
5층에서도 여러 문제점이 나타났는데 테라스로 진입하면 건물의 벽에 막혀 시야각이 제한되었고 테라스를 주로 사용하는 용도인 스프레이 작업 시에는 작업공간이 테라스와 가장 가까운 m03 설계실을 침범한다. 또한 테라스를 가기 위해 6층에서 계단을 내려가면 5층 홀의 많은 사용자와 테라스 입구가 겹쳐 동선 충돌이 자주 일어난다.
The east-facing terraces were mostly used on the fifth and sixth floors.
The view from the 6th floor towards the terrace was obstructed by model storage and trash cans, making the windows useless. The upper floors of the architecture library were empty spaces with only the structure, which had enough potential to be remodeled together, and there was no direct access to the terrace from the 6th floor, so a new entrance on the 6th floor seemed necessary.
The fifth floor also presented a number of problems: access to the terrace was blocked by the building’s walls, limiting the viewing angle, and when spraying, the main use of the terrace, the workspace encroached on the M03 design room closest to the terrace. Also, when going down the stairs from the 6th floor to access the terrace, the entrance to the terrace overlapped with many users of the 5th floor hall, causing frequent traffic conflicts.
Design
기존 테라스 공간을 건축도서관 상부까지 확장하고 정사각형 슬라브로 동선을 만든다.
30도, 45도 회전한 정사각형들이 끼어 들어가 테라스가 확장되고 재미있는 공간이 나타난다.
5층 홀을 볼 수 있도록 홀 방향으로 창을 냈으며 건축도서관 상부는 400 정도의 단차를 중간 중간 두어 앉아서 쉴 수 있는 공간으로 만든다.
중요한 매스감을 형성하는 기둥들은 플랜트 박스, 의자, 테이블과 연결되면서 쓰임새를 주었다.
The existing terrace space was extended to the top of the architectural library and a pathway was created with square slabs.
Squares rotated 30 and 45 degrees are interwoven to expand the terrace and create an interesting space.
The upper part of the architecture library is interrupted by a 400-degree step to create a space for sitting and relaxing.
The columns, which form an important massing, are connected to plant boxes, chairs, and tables, giving them a usage.
